magniX has been named a finalist for the prestigious 2023 U.S. National Aeronautic Association’s Robert J. Collier Trophy. The trophy is awarded annually “for the greatest achievement in aeronautics or astronautics in America, with respect to improving the performance, efficiency, and safety of air or space vehicles, the value of which has been thoroughly demonstrated by actual use during the preceding year.”

"Those who have earned the Robert J. Collier Trophy represent the timeline of aviation excellence for our nation," said Amy Spowart, NAA President and CEO. "Our industry and the world's future depend on a sustainable aviation system. magniX’s magni650 EPU has earned its place as a 2023 Collier finalist by proving that an electric-powered engine can fly and perform."

Recognising milestones in aviation since 1911, past Collier trophy winners include Orville Wright, Chuck Yeager for breaking the sound barrier, and the crew of the Apollo XI moon landing.

Final selection will take place in March.
